HyperConverged Infrastructure

Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) combines x86-based server and storage resources with an intelligent software to provide a turnkey software-defined solution which streamlines the deployment, management and scaling of datacenter resources. A single hyperconverged solution replaces separate servers, storage networks and storage arrays to create a flexible and agile datacenter that easily scales as per business needs.

Our in-depth understanding and experience of implementing HCI platforms from leading OEMs such as Nutanix and 8KPC, ensures that you extract optimum performance from your database resources.

Most HCIs consist of two fundamental components:

  • A Distributed Data Plane that runs across a cluster of nodes delivering storage, virtualization and networking services for guest applications – either VMs or container-based applications.
  • A Management Plane that allows for the easy administration of all HCI resources from a single view, and eliminates the need for separate management solutions for servers, storage networks, storage and virtualization.

HyperConverged Infrastructure is ideal when:

  • You want to scale resources with the addition of new nodes.
  • You wish to deploy infrastructure in minutes, enabling IT teams to focus on business-critical applications and services.

HyperConverged Infrastructure deployments:

  • Are mostly 100% software-defined, with no dependency on proprietary hardware.

Case in point

One of the top airlines in India wanted to deploy VDI to consolidate its IT infrastructure across all location. This would require separate component layers of Server, Storage & Network. These separate layers of infrastructure would not only require separate skills levels to deploy, manage and troubleshoot for each layer but also increase management overhead. At the same time isolation of performance related VDI issues would be difficult to troubleshoot.

The company wanted a HyperConverged Infrastructure which could integrate all these components into a single block thereby simplifying isolation of problem areas during performance issues or breakdowns and resolving them. Such a solution would also eliminate the need for maintaining additional skilled manpower.

Anunta deployed Citrix XenDesktop environment on Nutanix HCI platform for 9 nodes at the company’s data centre and 7 nodes at DR environment to cater to 1000+ Citrix users. The solution caters to approximately 400-500 concurrent users from different airports & runs business critical applications required for check in and boarding of passengers at airports.

Post deployment of the HCI solution:
  • The airline has experienced improved end-user experience and productivity. End-users now have access to critical business applications with zero downtime due to effective issue isolation and resolution.
  • The simplicity of management of the new HCI setup has led to the company upscaling the existing infrastructure by adding more nodes to its existing IT environment.
