With a vast network of over 1,198 branches, 193 Business Correspondents (BCBOs), and 1,287+ ATMs across the country, the bank serves millions of customers, offering a wide range of banking and financial products.

The bank has continually evolved to deliver superior customer experiences through innovative digital banking solutions.

Challenges

As part of its digital transformation journey, the bank aimed to modernize its processes and embrace forward-thinking technologies to enhance the end-user experience. A key objective was to enable employees to access core banking applications and data from anywhere, anytime, and on any device. However, the bank faced several challenges:

  • Data Security: Allowing access to data and applications from multiple devices raised significant concerns over the security of sensitive corporate information, increasing the risk of data theft or manipulation.
  • Seamless Integration: The bank’s 600+ locations, including remote branches with limited connectivity, required seamless access to both legacy and new core banking applications. Additionally, the new infrastructure had to support integration with both existing and new peripherals, such as printers and scanners.
  • Legacy System Compatibility: Existing applications were running on multiple versions of Java, posing challenges in consolidating and ensuring compatibility with the new infrastructure.

Anunta’s Solution

Anunta addressed the bank’s challenges by implementing a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution, transforming the end-user computing (EUC) environment to enhance accessibility and security. The solution began with a comprehensive analysis of interdependencies across the bank’s locations, user groups, and IT infrastructure, ensuring all requirements were met.

  • Built on Citrix XenDesktop, XenServer, XenMobile, NetScaler, and ShareFile, the solution enabled seamless access to core applications and data.
  • Anunta integrated its patented SaaS-based AIOps monitoring platform, EuVantage, for proactive monitoring across the entire virtualization stack, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • The implementation successfully onboarded the bank’s 17,500+ end-users, migrating data to central servers post-user acceptance testing.
  • The solution provided anytime, anywhere, any device secure access to data and applications, effectively addressing diverse end-user needs.

 Key Benefits

  • The bank’s application delivery became independent of specific hardware and vendors, streamlining management and improving flexibility.
  • Centralized applications made it possible to push upgrades and patches to users much faster than the manual process of updating individual devices.
  • A secure VPN with per-app micro-VPNs protected corporate data accessed by mobile users, ensuring data security even when accessed from multiple devices.
  • If an employee left the organization, their access could be easily revoked by HR or their manager through a simple communication with the IT administrator.
  • ShareFile implementation provided secure file sharing with control over actions like forwarding, printing, or copying, reducing the risk of data misuse or manipulation.
